Relieving Stress with the Help
of Numerology “Remember that a man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound
in the English language.” --Dale Carnegie
This month we will discuss the role
that Numerology can play within Stress Relief, Coping, and Relaxation. In
our
busy lives the occasional challenge, argument, or difficulty can be a normal
part of life. Generally, most of life’s challenges are ordinary occurrences
that can actually help us to grow stronger and develop pride in ourselves. Pride
is
a belief in yourself and your abilities. According to the dictionary, pride is:
“A
sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect.” or “pleasure or
satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession, or association: parental
pride.” Being able to tackle life’s
challenges allows you to develop confidence, pride and self-acceptance in
yourself.
Within Numerology we’ll look at how
pride, especially in your name, influences your life. People know you by
your name. In today’s
complex computer driven world, others may have little more than your name to
identify you with. In many cases it alone represents who you are. Your name
identifies how you view yourself through the Soul
Number
and it identifies how
others view you through your Outer or
Personality Number. When we live up to
the power of our own name, or the expectations of others, we can strengthen
and
develop pride in ourselves. Of course, not all of the aspects Numerology
identifies with your name may make you proud. But with work and dedication,
you
can outshine facets of your personality that you might not be too happy with.
However, keep in mind that
we all have a body, mind, heart, and spirit. These aspects, which we will
analyze, make us who we are. We are all
unique, and are influenced by these aspects in different ways. Our personal
aspects can color
the way in which we believe in ourselves, as well as how we work, love, communicate, plan,
express and live.
When we believe in ourselves, we are better able to deal with stressful situations. When stress slowly drags
us
down, we tend to not take time out to relax and recover. We then slowly lose
confidence in our abilities and let things slide. In attempts to lessen
stress,
we may ignore important aspects of our lives, because we don’t have enough
time
or space. As an example, we may not take as good care of ourselves as we should.
Situations can offer varying levels
of stress to different people. Some people can easily ignore stress, while
others cannot. Stress can come from many sources, but one of the biggest
probably stems from trying to do, or take on, too much. How much is too
much?
It depends on where you are in your life, your skills, and your resources.
Are
there times in your life that you took on more than you could handle and
then
simply collapsed or let things slide, due to the stress? I believe your
ability
to stay
balanced in your
life is extremely important. This is another place
where Numerology can fit into this complex puzzle. It can help to illustrate
how you can best remain balanced during challenging or stressful situations.
What should we do? Your goal should
not necessarily be to avoid all stressful events. The purpose here isn’t to
make everything in life stress-free. However, you should try to develop the
ability to relax and remain balanced during day-to-day activities and during
challenging occurrences. This may require regular habits and practices on
your
part.
Where do we start looking for pride within Numerology? As noted above,
The
Soul Number can be a great place to start as it indicates the views you tend
to
have of yourself. You may then want to look into the following questions: Are you neglecting who you really are?
Does who you are get in the way of solving or coping with issues? Do you have the skills you need to properly cope with your personal
issues?
Your personal numbers can help you to begin to answer these questions. After
you refresh your
memory about your Soul Number, you can look deeper into your name with some of
the
other Numerological related tools available. One of these is the Planes of
Expression. The Planes of Expression is one of the most detailed parts
of a numerology reading. They
show all of the vibrational energies of each letter in your birth name, as
they
relate to one of 4 personality aspects: Physical (Body), Mental (Mind),
Emotional (Heart) and Intuitive (Spirit) energy. These are the ways in which
you
handle problem solving and daily tasks. The Physical plane letters indicate
those aspects of your personality that revolve around your five senses, as
well
as to your potential for physical strength, endurance and size. The Mental
plane letters indicate those aspects of your personality that revolve around
thinking, strategy, problem solving and learning. The Emotional plane
letters indicate
those aspects of your personality that revolve around sensitivity, emotion,
relationships and feelings. The Intuitive plane letters indicate those
aspects
of your personality that revolve around intuition, introspection and inner
perception.
With the
Planes you could analyze every letter, but we will first look at the first
letter of your name. The first letter of your name can almost be thought of
as
a cornerstone. It sets up the structure for the rest of your name. The
influence of this first letter can have a strong and powerful effect upon
you
as a child and as you grow. The influence of your name, and especially the first
letter, can be stabilizing, motivating or restricting as you mature. Some of
this influence depends on which Plane the first letter falls into. The
Planes
of Expression are shown below:
Physical
|
Mental
|
Emotional
|
Intuition

D M V E N W F O X
|
A J S H Q Z
|
B K T C L U

G P Y I R

So, if your name is
John, then your first letter is J which falls into the Mental Plane of
Expression. Someone named John would be inclined to have a tendency to be
very
thoughtful and strategic in his actions. This can color and shade the way he
goes about solving problems or handles day to day issues. Anyone with a
first
letter that is on the Mental Plane will probably try to find a way to reason
his/her way out of any difficulties that they might face. When your first
letter falls on the Physical Plane then you might be more inclined toward
action and the desire to do something, sometimes before thinking it through. Those
people with a first letter on the Emotional Plane may try to reach out for
help
and engage others in their problems. Those people with a first letter on the
Intuition Plane may try to think their way out of any problems.
After you analyze your first letter, then you can take the
next step and analyze your full name. However, because your Numerological
portrait
includes many other aspects, don’t expect it to be a full picture for
explaining all of your traits. Its main importance for you is to illustrate
your general way of looking at life and solving problems. If your name
indicates
a strong Physical plane (D,M,V,E,N,W,F,O,X) then you may be more inclined
than
others to try to find a way to solve your issues through swift action,
rather
than strategizing (Mental) or reaching out (Emotional) to others for
insights
or help. Each of the 4 aspects has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some of
us
live by our senses, while others live almost exclusively in their hearts,
or in their minds. Your chart indicates how you function on each plane.
Part of your challenge in
understanding the different planes will be to understand how they shape your
life. You can use your Planes of Expression reading
to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your aspects. When one aspect
is weaker than another, this does not necessarily indicate that you have
problems in that aspect, it simply can mean that that aspect in your life is
not an
outstanding issue for you. However, know that over-reliance on any one
aspect can indeed bring about unbalance. It is better to hone all of your
skills and talents, rather than relying on only one or a few. Reaching out, and working with others,
can help you to hone your abilities.
Your Planes of Expression chart can help you to develop an inner strength
which will help you to more
confidently deal with the issues of life. We all develop a sense of personal
accomplishment
from knowing that we can handle problems and complete
important tasks in our lives. Finding ways to effectively deal with
your personal struggles involves knowing your inner strengths and weaknesses,
and perhaps reaching out for help from others . Some of us may face the challenge of knowing whether or not we
need others for help in
solving or coping with problems. The Planes of Expression can help you to
better see into
your personal makeup and develop awareness of your strengths and needs.
Being more aware of yourself and the way in which you handle problems, may
help you to be more conscious within your daily life. A greater awareness
can make you
more relaxed and better able to cope with everyday situations. In coping,
know that
with the more independence you desire, then the more responsibility you
put on your own
shoulders. Part of your work may also be to balance coping, independence,
and awareness.
We generally take our name for granted. In a sense, we may not really
know what our name means, why we have it, or how it is regarded.
However,
by developing a sense of pride in it, you can increase your self-esteem. With
increased self-esteem, color and meaning is added to life. By being aware of the
aspects of your name, you can
understand more about where your problem solving strengths are. Gradually,
you
may begin to be more aware of how you handle your problematic issues in
daily life. Your awareness can then help you to
know when to reach out for help and what resources you need for each issue.
You may then be
better able to cope. You can then begin to better balance your life and find
time and
space for relaxation.
Good luck in your journey into Soulful Living and Numerology!
