Numerology and Grief Work
“One sees great things from the valley, but only small
things from the peak.” --G.K. Charleston
This month we will look at the role of Numerology within loss and grief work. Grief work can be a difficult process for all of us, but it's
normal and healthy to feel pain, anger or frustration when you have
experienced loss in your life. The methods and Numerological tools
that I would like to discuss are not ways around your distress, but tools
and support that may be able to help you through it. We are striving
for emotional maturity and health, and hopefully finding ways to deal
with the powerful emotions that come up when dealing with grief, and
not avoiding them.
Often, especially when we are young, we learn to hide the parts of our
personality that are unacceptable, such as grief, anger, fear, or pain,
from our parents, family, friends, teachers, co-workers, and others. As
we grow older, we may find other ways to avoid emotional anguish.
Some may try to “numb” themselves to avoid emotional pain through
drugs or alcohol. When we do things to avoid pain or anger, we often
effectively push our emotions into our shadow.
Many of us may have several situations from which we experienced
loss of some kind, such as a relationship breakup, a job,
death, moving away from friends, and so on. It may add some
perspective to put these experiences down on paper into a timeline
format. Perhaps then you will be able to understand, in a different way, any difficulties that you may be experiencing. There aren’t any rules
about the timeline, and this can be an important first step in recovery
from grief. Pairing your timeline with your Numerological Challenges may also help you to analytically see your
life and the challenges and
experiences that you have had.
If you have read your Challenge Numbers through the Challenge
Tool,
you may already know that Numerology Challenges are about personal growth,
experience, and courage. The Challenges represent
the twists and turns in your path through life. Learning how to
maneuver through those twists is part of the challenges and rewards
of life. It may help to view obstacles and their associated experiences
and learnings in your life as incentives that can help lead you on your
way. It is important to try to learn from your experiences, rather than
avoiding either crisis or reward, because the associated experiences
may happen again in other forms.
There are Four Numerology Challenge Periods in your life. Each Challenge
Period is based on a series of nine year cycles. The 2nd and 3rd
Challenge Period last roughly nine years, while the 1st and last
Challenge Period have varying lengths. Tapping into the power of each
particular Challenge Period requires you to apply the energies found
within its number, hopefully developing its energy into a personal
asset. Each Challenge Period will have its own particular hurdles to get
over. Successfully navigating through each period is done by meeting
any obstacles and mastering the skills to handle them.
Some people may experience the same Challenge Number in more
than one Challenge Period. Since each Challenge period lasts for at
least 9 years, these people may have to realize that certain skills and
talents will have to be mastered in order to live a healthy and balanced
life. When a Challenge Number occurs more than once, within a
person's life, that person has an opportunity to master the events and
situations associated with this specific challenge. This Challenge
Number could represent a major life lesson to accept and use
throughout their life. Blocks, challenges and obstructions can delay and
deter us from our
goals. Yet, our particular challenges teach and guide us to improve our
life. The more blocks in your Numerology chart, the more lessons you have the opportunity to
experience and learn from. In order for us to grow,
we must face these lessons and the fears associated with them. Then
we will be able to conquer our weaknesses, and this is where the
Challenges come in. What we need to do is acknowledge our
frustrations, fears and pain and find ways to express our feelings
safely. Admitting that we have pain, fears, or problems is part of our
path toward being able to take an active part in a balanced life. It is
part of the path toward working with your grief.
Of course, you have to muster up the courage to put these practices to
work. Learn to talk about your feelings. If you're afraid to talk, or if you
can't find the right words to describe what you're going through, find a
trusted friend to help you. Don’t forget that part of your work may
involve being in right
relationship with the people in your life. This
means relationship with yourself as well as others. It means choosing
relationships that do not manipulate, coerce or co-depend. It means finding
people who
can support you, even in your grief.
Grief can bring up many emotions and bring many situations to a
head. Looking at your life through the lens of the Challenge Periods
will allow you to see which energies are most prevalent at the current
time. If your current Challenge Period revolves around being social,
then you might benefit from finding ways to host events and socialize
more. Perhaps it might not seem like the right time, but this part of
the challenge. The task is not to deny your grief, but find a ways for
expressing it while living your life. Eventually, you will be able to
experience your emotions and your grief. Look within the scope of
your Numerology Challenge to learn to develop the talents available
within them and apply them to everyday life.
Good luck in your journey into Soulful Living and Numerology
