Numerology, Family, and Community

Deal with the faults of others as gently as with your own. --Chinese proverb

I always prefer to believe the best of everybody--it saves so much time. --Rudyard Kipling

This month we will be talking about the role that Numerology plays within families and communities. Supporting the growth of others can be an important part of community living. I believe that it is very important to help the people in your life to fully realize who they are. This can mean helping your children, friends, family, and community find ways to reach their full potential. Also, when raising a family, it can be vital to find ways to support yourself spiritually, mentally, and physically. Your personal numbers within Numerology can help by exposing your potential strengths and weaknesses and help to shine the light on areas of your personality that may need work.

One of your personal numbers is your Destiny Number. This number is all about opportunities, choices, and decisions. It represents those things in your life, including work, that you do to satisfy yourself. The Destiny Number represents your own, unique abilities. How you use your abilities, or whether you use them at all, depends on you. It can be a critical number in understanding your role in the community. Some of your other personal numbers, like the Outer Number and Soul Numberscan show the challenges that you will face in trying to live up to your Destiny Number. Your Soul and Outer numbers will affect how you potentially utilize your Destiny Number.

The following brief descriptions will outline your particular Destiny Number. (We will go into them at length, at a later time. For now, it is enough to understand that the Destiny Number plays a role in the development of your character and influences how you will fit in within your family and community.)

1, 8 Destiny Numbers

Anyone who has Destiny Numbers of 1 or 8 will routinely face issues involving craftsmanship, self-mastery and leadership. It will be very important for them to find ways to develop pride, courage, determination and individuality.

2, 3, 9

Communication, friendship and partnerships play a large role in the lives of people with 2,3 or 9 as a Destiny Number. If you have such a Destiny Number you will need to work at developing acceptance, honesty, social skills and insight.

4, 6

People with a 4 or 6, as their Destiny Number will be challenged to develop and build ideas, structures and programs that are long lasting. Serving your community, perhaps within law enforcement, will also be important to you. Stability is also important.

5, 7

People with a 5 or 7 Destiny Number will need to adapt, change, and progress. Learning is important for you. Travel and research also play a big role in your life.

Your numbers can also help to illustrate the general emotions, attitudes, moods, and personal characteristics that you bring to any situation. Being aware of your emotions can help you to mature as an individual and lead to the development of compassion, acceptance, and tolerance. All of which are important in helping to support and grow families and communities.

Acceptance and tolerance can be concepts that we all struggle with throughout our lives. However, these are important when considering your role in parenting and in the community. You’ve all seen the basic Numerology charts that explain some of your basic qualities. Now we will dig a little deeper and try to explain some of the related characteristics and qualities that can be represented by your particular numeric information, including tolerance, acceptance and understanding.

Numerology can provide you with guidance toward the better understanding of the situations in your life, where you might not feel like being accepting or compassionate. It can provide general descriptions, and you will need to look at the full identity of yourself or your children, friends and family to fully comprehend each individual's capacity for understanding, acceptance, compassion and tolerance. This can be a very difficult undertaking. However, the more stubborn, strict, and resistant to change someone is, then it is more likely that he/she is less tolerant and flexible than other people.

Your Soul and Outer Numbers can tell you a lot about your ability to adapt, accept and tolerate different circumstances. Generally speaking, the most easy going people, are those with a #2, and #3 for a Soul, or Outer Number. The people with a Soul or Outer number of 2 can be very tolerant, as they often wish for, and work toward relationships and partnerships. They can easily go out of their way to make others comfortable.

Understanding the "Unbalanced" vs. "Balanced" side of your personal numbers is extremely important for expressing yourself in a healthy way. This involves finding a way to blend both sides together. Trouble and difficulty can develop when you become fixated on meeting, or avoiding, the characteristics of either side of your personal numbers. At times, any emotion can be appropriate.

Part of developing compassion, acceptance, and tolerance simply means that you, as a human being, are open to new ideas, and can respect the ideas, and ideals of others. Believing in your abilities is important, as is having faith that others are generally good. Tolerance and acceptance are essential, but you do not have to take this to a level where you believe the "put-downs" of others, or allow them to make you feel degraded. We all must learn how to balance and blend our level of acceptance with morality. It is not always an easy path to tread.

We have talked about understanding your "Shadow" last month. Now, you can look deeper into your character and evaluate which "side" of your personal numbers you present to the world, most often. Do you force yourself to be nice? Do you frequently you hold back your anger? In some situations it can be good to let people know that you are angry. It is also okay to let people know that you care about them. Also, think about how you imagine someone who is "greedy" or "obstinate." Are there times when these qualities might be useful?

The chart below provides a general outline of some of the problems that you may face, while trying to function, in a balanced way, within your family, community, or social circle. Looking at where your personality fits, between both sides of your personal numbers can help you to get a better understanding on your personality.

Personal Number

Critical Issues

1

They want to issue orders, and move on
They might have no "time" for groups, activities outside of their zone of comfort

2

Very tolerant, as they often wish for partnerships
Easily go out of their way to make others comfortable

3

Adaptable, easy going
Can be a rebel, when they think others want to remove them from their "comfort zone"

4

Very accepting, tolerant
Those who "conform" to their requests and you will be accepted

5

Generally very accepting
Might have problems in large groups
Difficulty expressing emotions

6

Very Accepting
Want everybody to be happy
Holds in anger

7

Tends to be harsh
May think in black/white terms
When hurt they may go off by themselves

8

Accepting of like individuals
Your "in" if you are interested in similar activities
At times they can be very forceful

9

Tends to accept ideas, but more of a loner
Want clearly defined goals
Little time for adding new ideas, or situations into their life
They want to be in control
Ultimately, they will give in, but it might take a while

Working on ways to be more accepting, adaptable and compassionate can help to steer away from major problems and stress. However, we all must learn to deal with difficulties and learn to manage, not repress, our emotions. Know that stress is the body's reaction to major, confusing, or exciting situations in your life. Divorce, moving, death, and constant activity can be contributing factors in adding stress to your life.

Watch your children, friends, and self. Keep a journal. Find ways to learn about yourself. Find ways to mature and develop emotionally, physically and spiritually. Values of esteem, respect, integrity, and pride in your family can be important sources of strength. Stay involved with your friends, neighbors, and family. Groups of close friends and neighbors can offer no-nonsense help and support during difficult times.

We all must make our own choices when it comes to living as a vital member of our community. Are we indeed contributing to the growth of the community? There are many ways and levels in which we all contribute to the growth of our families and the community in which we live. On a personal level, the ways in which we are compassionate and accepting will influence the people in our lives.

Get involved with groups that build pride in the community, such as those that organize litter clean-ups and graffiti removal. Community groups make our neighborhoods safer places to live. They also provide great opportunities for neighbors to spend time together. Finding ways to reduce social isolation can help to reduce stress and make you feel part of the community. There are many excellent organizations that are always looking for volunteers. You can help others in innumerable ways by volunteering, sharing, and perhaps just being there for someone in need.

Good luck on your journey into Soulful Living and Numerology.
